Introduction: Landscape Artist – Dr. Shwetha Kamath

Few days back I did visit a group art exhibition of three artists in Renaissance Gallerie, Bangalore. I met Dr.Shwetha, I saw a glimmer in her eyes when she was showing her paintings and was passionate about her works. I remembered myself when I was doing my exhibitions. I thought I would introduce the artists to all my friends and visitors to my blog this promising Landscape Artist. I wish Dr.Shwetha will continue to do more landscapes, which has the highest market in the world and it does not depict any religion, castes, or people, pure natural bliss. Here is a small interview with the artist and the contact details of her with a link to her website, and the gallery website link too.
Prasad: When did your learn to paint, who was your first quide. ?
Shwetha: I used to paint since my childhood, but in 2001, I took up a hobby class at Drishya School of Art, Udupi. for a period of 15 days, under the guidance of Ramesh Rao. His guidance helped me a lot in improving my skills of painting. I took up landscapes in watercolor .My Guide and mentor is Ramesh Rao (artists forum, udupi).
Prasad: What inspired you to start painting and choose and carrier which is little difficult and that too having studied medicine? Either you may not like that field or you choose to work peacefully with your paintings. ?
Shwetha: I always had a dream of being a fulltime artist, even when I was studying medicine. My hubby Dr Annappa Kamath "s Support was my inspiration to take it up as a career. My Passion for art was much more than I had in medicine. The play of colors always excited me. I love being a doctor, but I like art a little more than medicine.
Prasad: What is the reason you choose to do landscape paintings rather than other themes like 90% of the artists in India are doing?
Shwetha: My inspiration for paintings is beautiful landscapes. , I do like to paint landscapes, because nature is so beautiful, the lovely breeze on the sea coast, the vibrant sunshine, the Dazzling greenery ...its god’s gift. It makes me happy to paint landscapes. IT cheers my soul within, soothes me when I am in pain. It’s been my best friend whenever I needed some solace.
Prasad: Do you have plans to have solo shows in future?
Shwetha: Yes, definitely I will do solo shows in future.
Prasad: We all welcome you to the Art Community; I wish you would not go back to your Medicine, is it so?
Shwetha: Thanks for inviting me into art community; I have no plans of going back to medicine.
Prasad:I saw a series of landscape paintings; do you wish to do more series of landscapes?
Shwetha: Yes, I plan to do series of landscapes. Currently my choice of media has been acrylic, water, or oil, In future, I would like to experiment with mixed media.

Timelines of Art History –Ancient Art to Contemporary Art.
The first 30,400 years, This covers ca. 30,000 B.C. to ca. 400 A.D. or, if you prefer, fertility statuettes and bone flutes to roughly the Fall of Rome. Prehistory, Western Ancient and Classical civilizations, and even your early Chinese dynasties and periods all have their dates listed as Ancient Art.
Years 400-1400 A.D., - Marvel that some still refer to this millennium as the Dark Ages. Yes, migration period art was portable by necessity, but the single biggest counterargument to "Dark Ages" lays in the words "illuminated manuscript.". Is listed as
Medieval to Early Renaissance Art.
Years 1400-1880 - After the long Italian Renaissance, Northern Renaissance and Baroque periods were over, we began to see new movements appear with greater frequency. and a multitude of readers' favorites from 15th Century Italian art to the French Impressionists.
Is listed as Renaissance to Early Modern Art
Years 1880 –1970 - Artists were extremely busy 90 years indeed. Not only had the Impressionists opened the floodgates on new paths to take, individual artists such as Picasso and Duchamp were themselves responsible for creating multiple movements.
Is listed as Modern Art
Years 1970-Present - Fewer movements are identifying themselves as such or art history simply hasn't caught up yet with those that have. Is listed as Contemporary Art
